Laurie Borden

Laurie Borden knew from a very young age that she wanted to be an artist. She got her first job in advertising while she was still in high school. She did pen and ink drawings, paste-up and stat camera operation for two advertising agencies from 1980 to 1984. Laurie also began doing freelance work on the side for different companies in the Boston area. In 1985, she accepted a job at Tower Advertising and became responsible for taking projects from concept to completion. In addition, she studied art production at New England School of Art & Design.

While Laurie worked in commercial art, she also pursued studies in fine art. She has taken various courses and workshops including figure drawing at The Art Institute of Boston and oil painting at Massasoit College. In addition, Laurie has studied extensively with the portrait artist, Clement Micarelli at the South Shore Art Center.

In 1988, Laurie left advertising behind to pursue work as a portrait artist. She specializes in children and pet portraits in interior and exterior settings. In between commissions Laurie would often paint her own pets. She has a strong love for animals and a gift for capturing their personalities. Laurie has won awards in both oil and pastel for her animal paintings and she is currently concentrating on pet portraits exclusively. When time allows, she also paints still life in oil.

Laurie Borden's paintings hang in many private collections throughout New England. She currently maintains a studio at her home in Massachusetts.
