Jared Clackner
Nature's Essence
May 22 through July 3

The Christopher Gallery is proud to present Nature's Essence by Jared Clackner. The public is invited to attend an opening reception on Saturday, May 22 from 7 PM to 10 PM. The exhibition will hang through July 3. All the paintings included in the show are available for purchase.

Jared Clackner is a plein-air landscape artist. Plein-air describes artists who paint outdoors. He is inspired by working on location as a way to convey the peace and tranquillity of nature. Jared travels to many parts of the country in pursuit of the perfect landscape. Painting the subtle colors of light and shadow, he simplifies the subject to its most poetic form. The serene environments produced by Jared's thoughtful paint application and strong design invites the viewer to explore the world through his eyes.

Jared was born in Ohio in 1961. He studied advertising arts at Spectrum Institute in New Jersey. After graduating, Jared worked in freelance illustration and graphic design for several years.

In 1990, Jared decided to pursue a career as a plein-air landscape artist. Over the next five years, he studied privately with contemporary American landscape painters, Clyde Aspevig and Skip Whitcomb.

In 1994, Jared began teaching at the Ridgewood Art Institute and for the past four years he has also served as an assistant instructor at plein- air workshops taught by his teacher, Skip Whitcomb.

Jared's paintings have been included in exhibitions all over the United States and he has had several one man shows. He maintains his studio in northern New Jersey where he lives with his wife and two young children.
